This 174-page handbook focuses on programs, services, policies, procedures, facilities, and other elements of higher education that address the needs and interests of growing populations of adult learners and other nontraditional students (e.g., part-time students with full-time jobs, students with children, students returning to the formal educational system after a period of absence). Its 14 chapters focus on functional areas ranging from recruitment and admissions, financial aid, and orientation programs to academic advising, counseling and career services, and campus activities. Appended to the chapters are examples of best practices that have been implemented in the 14 functional areas at 2-year and 4-year institutions throughout the United States.
